Study notes
Sprinters explode off the blocks on creatine phosphate — it refills ATP in ~2 seconds for the first 10 seconds of a dash, then glycolysis takes over (the burn of lactic acid). Marathoners rely on slow aerobic respiration of fats — nearly unlimited fuel, which is why they don't 'hit the wall' until glycogen runs low around 30 km.
