Study notes
For N₂ + 3H₂ ⇌ 2NH₃, K_c = 0.5 at 500 K. Find K_p. Step 1: Δn_g = 2 − 4 = −2. Step 2: K_p = K_c(RT)^Δn = 0.5 × (0.0821 × 500)^(−2). Step 3: RT = 41.05; (41.05)^(−2) = 5.93×10⁻⁴. Step 4: K_p = 0.5 × 5.93×10⁻⁴ = 2.97×10⁻⁴. K_p << K_c here because gas moles shrink — pressure units penalise.
