Hard tissue laser applications basics

Laser Dentistry Basics · Dental (BDS)

Study notes

A child tolerates laser cavity prep without anesthesia. Why sometimes painless? Hard-tissue lasers ablate via water micro-explosions with minimal vibration and heat (with water spray) - no drill whine or pressure; small lesions need no injection. Students learn the comfort advantage honestly: less vibration and noise aid anxious patients, but deep lesions still need anesthesia - lasers reduce fear, they don't abolish pain physiology.
