Study notes
Gums bleed when brushing but teeth are not loose and X-ray shows normal bone. What stage is this? This is gingivitis — inflammation confined to the gums. The key point students must grasp: at this stage there is no attachment or bone loss, so the condition is fully reversible with plaque removal and good oral hygiene. If plaque control fails, it can progress to periodontitis, where supporting bone is destroyed.
