Practice management: ergonomics, infection control, waste management
Public Health Dentistry · Dental (BDS)
Study notes
A dentist develops chronic back pain within five years. What ergonomic failures caused it? Static bent posture, no assistant (two-handed instead of four-handed dentistry), no micro-breaks - the classic occupational injury. Students learn ergonomics as career longevity: neutral posture, patient positioned high, instruments within reach, scheduled breaks - because the dentist's spine is the practice's most expensive equipment, and it has no warranty.
