Q: Use Newton to approximate √2 (f = x²-2) from x₀ = 1, 2 steps. xₙ₊₁ = xₙ-(xₙ²-2)/(2xₙ) = (xₙ+2/xₙ)/2. x₁ = (1+2)/2 = 1.5. x₂ = (1.5+2/1.5)/2 = (1.5+1.3333)/2 = 1.4167. √2 = 1.41421: 2 steps, 4 digits! (Quadratic: digits double!)
