Study notes

A pineapple plant in the desert opens its stomata at midnight, stores CO2 as malic acid overnight, then closes stomata all day and photosynthesizes using the stored CO2 — losing almost no water. Taste a CAM leaf at dawn (sour from malic acid) versus dusk (sweet, acid used up) to feel the cycle.
