Study notes
A hypertensive patient's BP reads 190/115 before an extraction. What now? Defer elective treatment and refer for medical control - operating through severely elevated BP risks hypertensive crisis and bleeding. Students learn the numbers rule: elective dentistry waits for controlled BP (roughly below 160/100 per guidelines); urgent care proceeds with minimal stress - because the extraction can wait, the stroke can't.
