Radiographic differential diagnosis of jaw lesions
Oral Medicine and Radiology · Dental (BDS)
Study notes
An ill-defined radiolucency resorbing molar roots appears. Why urgent biopsy? Ill-defined borders plus root resorption mark aggressive behaviour - benign lesions displace teeth, malignant ones eat them. Students learn the border rule: the single most important radiographic feature is border definition - corticated suggests benign patience, ill-defined demands urgent tissue diagnosis.
