Study notes
A patient is missing all molars on both lower sides but has premolars. What Kennedy class is this? Kennedy Class I — bilateral distal free-end edentulous areas: there is no tooth behind either gap to support the denture, so support comes partly from the ridge tissue. Students learn this first because Class I mechanics (tissue-supported free ends) differ fundamentally from tooth-bounded Class III cases.
