Study notes

Let's trace what happens to a spinning top. Step 1: The top is spinning rapidly on its tip. It has high Angular Momentum. Step 2: Gravity tries to pull the top down, acting like a 'Torque'. Step 3: Because the top is spinning, it does not fall. Instead, the top's axis starts to trace a slow circle in the air. This circle is the Precession. Step 4: The top keeps spinning fast. As long as it spins, the Precession continues. Step 5: Friction eventually slows the top down. As it loses speed, it loses its 'oomph' (Angular Momentum). Finally, the gravity wins, and the top falls over.
