Study notes
Worked example - convert 156 decimal to binary, octal and hex. Step 1 (binary, repeated division): 156/2=78 r0; 78/2=39 r0; 39/2=19 r1; 19/2=9 r1; 9/2=4 r1; 4/2=2 r0; 2/2=1 r0; 1/2=0 r1. Read remainders bottom-up: 10011100. Check: 128+16+8+4 = 156. Step 2 (hex, group by 4): 1001|1100 = 9|C = 0x9C. Step 3 (octal, group by 3): 10|011|100 = 2|3|4 = 234 (pad left: 010 011 100). Verify: 2x64+3x8+4 = 128+24+4 = 156.
