Heroin (smack) is morphine chemically tweaked for speed — it crosses into the brain in seconds, which is why overdose kills by stopping breathing. Cannabis is India's most used illegal drug (bhang has traditional/religious use, but ganja/charas are banned under the NDPS Act, 1985). Cocaine's crack form devastated 1980s America; LSD's flashbacks can recur months after one trip.
