Why can't we build EVs and wind turbines without neodymium? Step 1: EV motors and wind-turbine generators need compact, powerful permanent magnets. Step 2: Nd₂Fe₁₄B magnets are ~10× stronger than ferrite — nothing else matches the energy product. Step 3: Each EV uses ~1–2 kg Nd; each wind turbine ~200 kg. Step 4: No Nd → bigger, heavier, less efficient motors. Rare earths are the green transition's bottleneck!
