Study notes
Why do muscles burn (lactate) during sprinting but not jogging? Step 1: Sprinting: O₂ demand exceeds supply → anaerobic glycolysis. Step 2: Pyruvate → lactate (regenerates NAD⁺) — fast but low ATP. Step 3: Jogging: O₂ sufficient → aerobic (Krebs + ETC) — full ATP. Step 4: Lactate causes burn; O₂ debt repaid after. Oxygen decides the pathway!
