Study notes

Rank HF, HCl, HBr by boiling point and explain. Step 1: All are polar (dipole–dipole) + London forces. Step 2: HF also H-bonds strongly → highest bp (19.5°C). Step 3: HBr vs HCl: both dipole–dipole, but Br is larger → stronger London forces. Step 4: Order: HF (19.5°C) > HBr (−66°C) > HCl (−85°C). London forces grow with electron count/size — they decide when H-bonding is absent.
