Study notes

How does polarography identify AND quantify Pb²⁺ in water? Step 1: Apply increasing voltage; Pb²⁺ reduces at characteristic E₁/₂ (−0.4 V). Step 2: E₁/₂ identifies the ion (each ion has its own). Step 3: Diffusion current id ∝ concentration (Ilkovič equation). Step 4: Identity from voltage, amount from current — two data, one scan!
