Maxillofacial trauma: Le Fort fractures, zygomatic fractures, orbital fractures
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery · Dental (BDS)
Study notes
A patient has cheek flattening, numb upper lip, and can't open wide after a side blow. What triad is this? Zygomatic complex fracture - the cheek bone displaced (flattening), infraorbital nerve compressed (lip numbness), and the fractured arch impinging the coronoid (trismus). Students learn midface trauma as nerve-and-function mapping: each symptom points to the structure the fragment hit.
