Study notes

A laser gingivectomy bleeds barely and needs no sutures. Why? Photothermal coagulation seals vessels as it cuts - the laser's hemostasis is its signature advantage. Students learn the trade-off: bloodless field and less post-op pain versus slower cutting and thermal damage risk if misused - lasers assist the skilled, they don't replace skill; the scalpel still cuts faster and cooler in trained hands.
