Predict loan default: raw data has 'city' text; one-hot encode to columns. Income ranges 10k-1M; standardize to mean 0. Debt-to-income ratio (engineered) predicts better than raw debt. Drop duplicate features via correlation; select top 20 by importance. Good features beat fancy models.
