Q: For polar coordinates x = r cos theta, y = r sin theta, find the Jacobian partial(x,y)/partial(r,theta). xr = cos theta, xtheta = -r sin theta. yr = sin theta, ytheta = r cos theta. J = (cos theta)(r cos theta) - (-r sin theta)(sin theta) = r cos^2 theta + r sin^2 theta = r.
