Q: One secant step for x²-2 = 0 with x₀ = 1, x₁ = 2. Compare regula falsi. Secant: x₂ = x₁-f(x₁)(x₁-x₀)/(f(x₁)-f(x₀)). = 2-2(1)/(2-(-1)) = 2-2/3 = 4/3 ≈ 1.333. Regula falsi: same formula but BRACKET kept: [1,2], f(1)<0<f(2). x₂ = 4/3: f < 0: new bracket [4/3, 2]! (Secant: faster; falsi: safer!)
