Anesthesiology · MBBS
Study notes
Vomiting after surgery — ondansetron; risk factors noted. Postop: PONV (risk — female, non-smoker, motion sickness, opioids: prophylaxis — ondansetron + dexamethasone; treat — ondansetron), respiratory (depression — opioids — naloxone — 0.04mg; atelectasis — spirometry; hypoxia — oxygen), cardiovascular (hypotension — fluids; hypertension — pain), others (hypothermia — warm; urinary retention — bladder scan; ileus — mobilize; bleeding — vitals — re-explore; DVT/PE — stockings, heparin; infection — wound). The opioid depression is naloxone — titrate.
