Bohr atom

Interactive 3D

Electrons orbit the nucleus in shells — switch element to see H, He and Li fill their shells.

Controls

Drag the sliders or type a value — the simulation updates live.

Study notes

Classify each as atom, molecule or ion: (a) Ne, (b) O₂, (c) Na⁺, (d) H₂O, (e) Cl⁻. Step 1: Ne — single atom of an element → atom. Step 2: O₂ — two oxygen atoms bonded, neutral → molecule. Step 3: Na⁺ — sodium atom that lost an electron, positive charge → ion (cation). Step 4: H₂O — hydrogen and oxygen bonded, neutral → molecule (compound). Step 5: Cl⁻ — chlorine atom that gained an electron → ion (anion).
