Study notes

An unknown salt: white, gives CO₂ with acid, yellow flame. Identify. Step 1: CO₂ with dilute acid → carbonate (CO₃²⁻). Step 2: Yellow flame → Na⁺. Step 3: Tentative: Na₂CO₃ (washing soda). Step 4: Confirm: flame persistent yellow; carbonate re-confirmed by limewater. Salt = Na₂CO₃!
