Predict the pH nature of: NaCl, CH₃COONa, NH₄Cl, CH₃COONH₄. Step 1: NaCl: strong+strong → NEUTRAL (pH 7). Step 2: CH₃COONa: CH₃COO⁻ + H₂O ⇌ CH₃COOH + OH⁻ → BASIC. Step 3: NH₄Cl: NH₄⁺ + H₂O ⇌ NH₃ + H₃O⁺ → ACIDIC. Step 4: CH₃COONH₄: both hydrolyse; K_a ≈ K_b → ~NEUTRAL (pH ~7). The weaker parent wins the pH tug-of-war.
