Study notes

Classify: (a) Zn + CuSO₄ → ZnSO₄ + Cu; (b) 2H₂O₂ → 2H₂O + O₂. Step 1: (a) Zn 0 → +2 (oxidised); Cu +2 → 0 (reduced) → DISPLACEMENT redox. Step 2: Zn is above Cu in reactivity series → reaction occurs. Step 3: (b) O in H₂O₂ is −1; goes to −2 (H₂O, reduced) and 0 (O₂, oxidised). Step 4: Same element both ways → DISPROPORTIONATION. ON tracking classifies every redox reaction.
