Study notes
A molar's crown is covered by enamel ~2.5 mm thick at the cusps — the hardest substance in the body. Beneath it lies dentin (softer, yellowish), and at the core the pulp with nerves and blood vessels. A cavity that stays in enamel can be filled simply; once it reaches the pulp, a root canal is needed. Drag the explode slider to peel the layers apart.
