Q: Sample: 4, 8, 6, 10. Estimate the population mean and variance. x̄ = (4+8+6+10)/4 = 28/4 = 7. Point estimate of μ: 7. s² = [(4-7)² + (8-7)² + (6-7)² + (10-7)²]/3 = (9+1+1+9)/3 = 20/3 = 6.67. Point estimate of σ²: 6.67 (divide by n-1 for unbiasedness!).
