Study notes
A 30-year-old man named Rahul visits the hospital. He has been coughing for 4 weeks, feels very hot at night (night sweats), and has lost a lot of weight. The doctor listens to his chest and orders a chest X-ray, which shows dark spots in his lungs. The doctor diagnoses him with Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB in the lungs). Rahul is started on the 'HRZE' regimen: Isoniazid, Rifampin, Pyrazinamide, and Ethambutol. Two weeks later, Rahul calls the clinic worried because his urine looks orange. The doctor explains this is a normal side effect of Rifampin and tells him to keep taking his medicine to ensure the germs are fully killed.
