Study notes

A diabetic post-COVID develops black nasal eschar and facial pain — mucormycosis. Mucormycosis (bread-mold fungi — Rhizopus) invades blood vessels in diabetics/steroid-users — black necrotic eschar, orbital/cerebral spread; treatment is liposomal amphotericin B + urgent surgical debridement — delay blinds and kills. Control sugar, limit steroids, suspect early. The black eschar is the alarm — fungus in vessels is a surgical emergency.
