Study notes

Two spots: A travels 3 cm, B travels 6 cm, solvent front 10 cm. Find Rf values. Step 1: Rf(A) = 3/10 = 0.3; Rf(B) = 6/10 = 0.6. Step 2: B is less polar (travels further, sticks less). Step 3: A is more polar (adsorbs strongly to silica). Step 4: Rf fingerprints compounds — polarity mapped on a plate!
