Redox titrations: permanganometry, dichrometry, iodometry

Classical Quantitative Analysis · Chemistry

Study notes

In permanganometry, why is no external indicator needed? Step 1: KMnO₄ is deep purple (MnO₄⁻). Step 2: During titration it's reduced to colourless Mn²⁺. Step 3: First excess drop stays purple → pink end point. Step 4: Self-indicator — the titrant is its own signal!
