Study notes
One 7 mm pocket refuses to heal after thorough scaling while all others respond. Why consider local drug delivery? A controlled-release antimicrobial (chlorhexidine chip, doxycycline gel) placed in that pocket sustains high drug levels for days where systemic antibiotics can't concentrate - targeting the non-responding site without drugging the whole body. Students learn it as precision adjunct: mechanical cleaning first, local drug for the stubborn remainder.
