Mucogingival surgery: grafts, frenectomy, vestibuloplasty
Periodontology · Dental (BDS)
Study notes
A lower front tooth shows progressive recession with a high frenum pulling the gum. Why graft plus frenectomy? The frenum's pull perpetuates the recession - grafting tissue without releasing the pull invites recurrence. Students learn the combined logic: remove the cause (frenectomy), then rebuild the defect (connective-tissue graft) - architecture corrected at both levels in one plan.
