Study notes
A survey team must screen 500 villagers for gum disease quickly. Why use CPI instead of full probing? CPI examines index teeth per sextant with a ball-ended probe, scoring 0 (healthy) to 4 (deep pocket) - fast, standardized, and designed for population screening and treatment-need estimation. Full-mouth probing would take hours per person. Students learn: CPI for populations, full probing for individual patients - the tool fits the question.
