Q: A test gives p = 0.03 at α = 0.05, another gives p = 0.12. Decide each. p = 0.03 < 0.05: reject H₀ - statistically significant! p = 0.12 ≥ 0.05: fail to reject - not significant. Note: 0.03 is not 'more true' than 0.049; both just cross the line.
