Study notes

Write notation and E°cell for Zn–Cu Daniell cell. (E° Zn²⁺/Zn = −0.76, Cu²⁺/Cu = +0.34) Step 1: Zn oxidised → anode (left): Zn(s)|Zn²⁺(aq)||Cu²⁺(aq)|Cu(s). Step 2: E°cell = E°cathode − E°anode = 0.34 − (−0.76) = 1.10 V. Step 3: Positive → spontaneous galvanic. Step 4: Single | = phase boundary; || = salt bridge. Notation reads left-to-right like the electron journey in reverse.
